ASAPbio aims to provide researchers with information and resources that can help them make productive use of preprints. Our Preprint Resource Center hosts materials such as videos, the Preprint FAQ and a wonderful set of preprint infographics developed by ASAPbio Fellows, which you can find at asapbio.org/preprint-info#infographics.
We want to ensure that communities with different linguistic contexts can also engage with preprints. With that in mind, we are proud to also have translations for many of our infographics available in Spanish, French and Portuguese; these translations have been made possible thanks to members of the ASAPbio Community who proposed, led or reviewed translations to these languages.
An invitation to contribute translations for preprint resources
We recognize that there are many other languages that we have not yet covered and invite members of the community to contribute translations to languages they speak. Are you interested in translating a preprint resource? Here is how you can contribute:
Preprint infographics
- Open this spreadsheet, which includes the English text for nine preprint infographics
- Check the ‘Translations already available’ tab to confirm whether the infographic and language you are translating have already been covered
- Start a new tab named ‘Translation to {{language you’ll be translating to}}’
- Add your name to the first row of the new tab, so that we can credit you
- Copy the English text of the infographic(s) you will translate onto the new tab and complete your translation there. You are free to translate a single infographic or several, according to your preference; you can use the same tab to translate multiple infographics to the same language.
That’s it! We’ll collate translations to a specific language to generate copies of the infographics in that language that we’ll add to our website.
Preprint FAQ
Our Preprint Resource Center also hosts our Preprint FAQ, which has also been translated to Spanish, French and Chinese in collaboration with community members. We welcome contributions for translations of the Preprint FAQ to different languages; if you are interested in translating the Preprint FAQ, please do contact us at iratxe.puebla@asapbio.org and we’ll follow up with you to help coordinate the translation.
Are there any other preprint resources that would be useful to you or your community? Are you hosting a local event about preprints and would like some resources to share? Feel free to contact us to share ideas, request stickers or discuss other materials we could support you with.
